I can't do it all (and stay sane).
Really. This may have been obvious to the outside world for some time, but I'm really just finally acknowledging it. I've been feeling a bit hollow for a few months can only hope I've been more functional that I feel. Some of the stress is non-negotiable but in other ways I've just started to offload whatever I can. Back to basics, priority setting and all that jazz. Time, money and energy somehow had/has to get split between home schooling, social work, fitness, family, friendships, pottery, house/yard maintenance and maybe even leisure time. Neat concept. I'm hoping to find a new balance again over the next few weeks that is more sustainable. If all goes well, I might even blog again!

Amen to that Tannis. I've been working on this type of balance for a while now too. It seems that no matter what your life looks like right now, nearly every mom I've talked to is feeling the strain of imbalance in their lives. Hope you find that "sweet spot" soon. It can be so draining when you are searching for it.
Who's going to do it all around here if you stop doing it all?
:)
Great comment, Heather. Agreed about the search for balance being exhausting -- and when you're trying to do too much, you don't have the energy/gumption/time to really dig into figuring out what you want.
Sometimes I try to take on MORE in the search of parenting balance, when in the grand scheme of life, I'm actually putting out of balance the rest of my priorities. Tack onto that all the comparisons that we make daily (sometimes it seems totally unconscious) with those on TV, FB, all types of social media outlets, and we just can't keep up with the millions of "super moms" that seem to be out there. Tannis, I've always looked up to you - and think you so well-grounded. When you find the perfect balance, let me know what it is. :)
Thanks Heather, I too find that most of the moms I know are in a similar spot. Probably most of the dads too, I just don't see them as often. Like Jeremy said, one of the hardest parts for me is taking the time to step back and re-evaluate, rather than just rushing along. I'm busy! Things to do! There is no perfect balance I'm afraid, things around us shift and change so often that we have to keep adapting on the fly...
You are so right - it's probably best not to look for balance, but rather to learn the proper technique of rolling with the punches!
