mmm, coffee

Here's something I really don't need but lust after anyway. Imagine an espresso con panna with a drizzle of caramel or fresh decaf americanos for the evenings - without leaving the house. Ivy thinks it would be the ultimate luxury to have steamed milk on demand. I might get tired of the barista lifestyle at home though. In any case, I might start doing some machine research and keep my eyes open for a used one some day. Or maybe I'll just keep walking to the coffee shop, it's good exercise.

I appreciate fine coffe and Tim Horton's isn't in that category (sorry Ontario folk) so it's my home brew or Starbuck's for me. But that gadgetry looks pretty swanky!

I only chose that fancy one because I'm still indoctrinated (and spoiled) from working at Starbucks. We are lucky to have two coffee roasters here in town that both do an excellent job of their darks and have mostly fair trade/organics to boot. No wonder we drink so much!

When I do drink Tim Hortons, and I do more often than I care to admit, I try to think of it more as a generic hot beverage with lots of cream.

I know I stumble with Timmy's as well from time to time as it is the only real coffee shop here in Steinbach - your reply made me chuckle!

Hey I made a recent post that would be under your sustainable's topic methinks - renting live xmas trees and then planting them in the Spring - any thoughts?

I also am a former Starbucks employee and didn't think I could fathom drinking anything BUT their coffee. Well, when you decide to leave and become a full time student, Folgers and Edwards unfortunately became a staple - a very gross, unfortunate staple! I agree, nothing beats Sbux. Right now I agree with Ivy that steamed milk on demand for my hot chocolate cravings on our cold winnipeg winter nights would be the ULTIMATE! I often ponder buying a Barista machine and why didn't I buy it during my discount days! I think if you will use it daily - its a worthwhile investment.

I was really hoping my sister Keira would get a job at Starbucks so I could get some discounted brew - alas it was not to be and I think she is manning a kiosk at Portage Place selling the wears of some East Indian glove & toque maker.

Thanks for the advice Jaime, I have also wondered why I didn't take that plunge when I was working there - and then I remember that I was working there because I was a student. Ironic that I drank way better coffee back when I had less income.

Hey Garth, you never know when you might need a cheap (or expensive) imported toque for the cold winter bike rides.
